There's really no telling what Halloween 2020 is going to look like, but if we're being honest with ourselves, it is definitely not going to mirror the past. No, in fact this halloween while I'm sure there will be many a stunt to attract throngs of 'socially distanced' crowds in Dubai, I'm staying put. After all, spooky season or not, there's still a global pandemic.

That being said, I thought why not partake in the season with a unique video? One which not only celebrates my love for all things horror but throws it back to a horror-classic while keeping safe from within the confines of my own home. For those of you that have already watched my Instagram video, you'll know that the film I'm referring to is none other than Carrie ( the 1976 version, not that awful remake) and yes, there will be a lot of blood! Well, not real blood, a concoction me and the manager invented specifically for the video. The idea behind it was to make a fashionised version of the original ending scene, one which showcases the lead character being dunked in pigs blood. Naturally, actual blood was out of the question, and so we devised our own cost friendly alternative with spectacular results. But, why am I going on? You can judge for yourself by watching the video here.
In closing, my behind the scenes acknowledgements would have to go to both my manager aka Shreya and my housekeeper Diane who brilliantly assisted me through pre/post production, because believe it or not, it was a production! I also thought it interesting to play with the notion of celebrating oneself instead of welcoming ridicule, as mirrored in the scenes where I'm running the faux-blood through my hair. After, all if Carrie White had laughed along with her bullies/classmates, flipped her hair back and kissed her prom date, the ending to the film would have been a whole lot different would it have not?
I guess what I'm trying to say is, the only way anyone can ever make you feel down about yourself, be it physically or emotionally is, if you let them. So, begin to practice the art of embracing oneself, wholly and without apologies, because self love is the best kind of love. Happy Halloween-season!!
