So, before I continue with todays ensemble post, let me just say I can't find the Bermuda Shorts on Zara's website, they're sold out online, however you may have some luck at the physical stores at Dubai Mall or Mall of the Emirates.

Second, its been a while since vibrant colour has entered my wardrobe, given that I'm more likely to stock up on beige, white, grey and neutral essentials, as overtime I have begun to appreciate their versatile beauty. Be it for lounging at home or heading out for coffee, in the life of someone on the go, it helps to have essentials that work around the clock. That being said, it is similarly important to know when to follow your instincts and indulge in pieces or experiences that truly bring you a sense of elation. That, is precisely what this piece did. These sequinned burgundy Zara shorts first spoke to me when I happened across them in the women's section of the store, and their sheer plushness and iridescence had me at first glance. A highstreet interpretation of a trend derived from the booming sales of lounge and sportswear perfectly encapsulated in one creation. I didn't have any doubts on what to pair it with I just knew I had to have it.

Typically, my rules for combining anything sparkly or metallic are to keep it simple in other areas of dress/accessorising. Which is what I did, for my morning coffee session at Icons Coffee Couture with Shreya ( who has begun to double as my manager) I paired these stellar Bermuda Shorts with a tucked in grey Zara hoodie, nude sneakers and my signature Mango shades. Simple, yet effective. Dressing down the shorts was much easier than expected because unlike highly reflective sequins these ones are more iridescent, a combination between matte and shine that make them less disco and more, "my swim shorts happen to be sequinned AND?!

In the end as we the adults of this new age make our way forward in a brave new world, our gender identities have seen a monumental evolution. One which has given rise to a multitude of brands and silhouettes that envision a future of genderless style. After all, haven't we been bending gender rules since the beginning of time? From men performing on stage in female roles, to the high-heel that is a women's staple (originally created for men) and popular items like the boyfriend shirt, jeans, etc that highlight the thrill and effortless allure of one who breaks gender norms to envision an exploration of the diversity that makes us all so uniquely human. These shorts reminded me, that fashion is an art form that is meant to help us live our best lives and celebrate the truest form of ourselves, and the ability to that is something no one can dictate. Here's to SEQUINS!!!!!
