The SEVA Table Experience

It's always a touching moment when a friend wants you to experience a café you've never been to, even more so when said friend is about spirituality, elevating ones being and positivity in all aspects of their life. Which is how I ended up at The Seva Table , with Talleno on a sunny day this weekend.

Talleno calls me and says, there's a café I need you try - it's an experience. I say "Sure, I'm up to try almost anything once." A line that has probably resulted in many of the most exhilarating and gut wrenching experiences of my life, but, I digress, life is meant to be lived! And so, we embarked on our journey to this little hidden gem. I was give no brief on the menu or the design, just the invitation and as we followed the GPS, we went deeper into the heart of Jumeirah 1. Here, tucked away right at the top of its own outdoor parking ( a miracle in itself in Jumeirah 1 lies SEVA. Greeting you at the door is sign etched into the ground, that says 'YOU ARE THE JOURNEY' thus setting the tone for your walk past the little shop which sells crystals and eco-friendly goods through the canopied sidewalk that's sprinkled with sunshine and books stacked in shadowy alcoves. As you take the bend your greeted by a fairy garden of grass and foliage, complete with stacked pillows and outdoor tables that seem, somehow, a divine part of the flora itself. One can choose to sit outside, or indoors in the cooling confines located just at the top of the pebbled walkway. After being seated, we delved deep into convo, with only the hum of the birds and the smell of books mingled with the scent of fine coffee and buttery almond toast lingering in the open air.

The staff, impossibly polite were cheerful and authentic, ready to assist but not in a typically mechanical fashion. Instead, Florence, our server on both the days I visited Seva, was our server and a delight. While my order with Talleno for the day was an exquisite black iced coffee infused with orange peel ( literally, to die for) on my second day with the content manager, I happened to try their delicious almond butter toast with freshly sliced banana and a drizzle of chocolate. Tasty, wholesome, healthy and filling, while Shreya ( my manager) can attest the same for her Avo Toast and English breakfast tea. However, as I've always specified it is about the experience, a concept is only ever guaranteed long term success if, it is operating with an authentic blue print.

The Seva Table Experience is just that, genuine, heart warming and a place to hideaway from the flashy hob knobber's, a true getaway for the introverts, artists and families looking to enjoy a calm serenity that isn't replicable. After, heading home I did read that while the yoga classes have been put on hold due to the current pandemic, the café itself operates as an extension of its ethos, primarily to exude and develop a sense of awakened living. This is done phenomenally well on all fronts from the decor, to the staff, the location and further carried out in the take-away bags that are recycled cassava. It doesn't get anymore authentic than The Seva Experience, so try it out, and if you do happen to like it, leave a comment or tell me about your experience below.
