The Story:-
I know what you’re thinking, here’s another ‘fashion person’ talking about yet another sponsored product, but for those of you that know me and watch my very unfiltered YouTube series, you would know that my reviews are ruthlessly accurate. So, now that we’ve got the niceties out of the way let’s talk about my biggest skincare discovery of 2019.
Firstly, let me just clarify that almost 80% of the people in my industry have been on Roaccutane; the infamous pimple busting, acne combating mega-pill that has a slew of side effects depending on the patient but also always works to effectively eradicate acne. While I first went on the medication in my mid-twenties and my last trip to the dermatologist was about two years ago (phew!) my skin has remained spotless, with the occasional bump that tends to pop-up right before a big show (Yikes, I know) And along the way I, like most new-age adults, have stuck to a healthy diet, lots of water and a simple moisturiser that doesn’t irritate my skin. However (and here’s where it gets good) my approach to skincare dramatically changed when I first popped into the Charlotte Tilbury store.
Located at The Dubai Mall, Charlotte Tilbury has always been revered for one thing; their Magic Cream, named for its miraculous ability to embed a revitalising and hydrating glow whilst minimising darkness and reducing the appearance of fine lines across the face. The story behind its creation states that CT would use the cream she mixed herself and apply it onto model’s backstage, who quickly started clamouring to know what was in this special mixture. And since a full list of its ingredients is mentioned on the website, I won’t bore you all with the details, but a few of the one’s worth mentioning are Hyaluronic Acid, Shea Butter & Rosehip Oil; all known for their transformative capabilities.
The Experience: -
Now, when I first entered the store, I was on the lookout for one thing only, their transformative foundation that boasts a silken quality which leaves your skin looking naturally flawless; an important factor to consider when you’re a modern man. Let’s be honest, none of us wants to be out here attending meetings looking cake-faced, it’s about an effortless glow or flawless texture and that is exactly why I needed the foundation. The age of men being ashamed of using cosmetics or being vocal about their cosmetic procedures is over, bye! Suffice to say its effects were not exaggerated, it glides across the skin like a fine layer of luxuriant mist and maintains a visibly healthy glow throughout the day and since my initial purchase, I’ve gone back for more. But, imagine my surprise when a week later the brand reached out to me to try their Magic Cream?! I didn’t need to be convinced; I started a trial immediately!
Once I step out of the shower, I’d use the Bioderma micellar water to cleanse my face, followed by the gentle application of the Magic Cream moisturiser and foundation. A week from its initial application the Magic Cream was all I needed for a night out on the town. Its remarkable hydrating properties seemed to work overnight, minimizing uneven skin tone and texture while boosting the skins natural glow. Its consistency is so lightweight that it appears like a satiny skin-mist, only packed with far more superior ingredients. The accompanying Night Cream I’d use on alternating days, as its rich wax-like consistency is best utilized after a heavy weekend of socialising or when the skin is incredibly dehydrated, while the Under-Eye Cream bears a similar consistency to the Magic Cream and should be used every day before bed. It is also worth mentioning that CT’s Magic Cream may be best for those with combination skin as its dewy-gloss like effect may or may not work with excessively oily skin types, which is why it is always important to invest in a quick trip to your local dermatologist or if you’re more woke than me, listen to your skin- it speaks no lies!
The Final Results: -
It has now been almost nine months since I first started my application of the Magic Cream, and I have since re-stocked to ensure my skin benefits from its instantaneously noticeable effects. It does not irritate or aggravate my skin-type, rather it settles into the face and neck like a soothing balm. Not only do I constantly get complimented on my skin at red carpet events, but wearing the Magic Cream moisturiser as a replacement for products with pore clogging formulas has been revolutionary for my skincare routine. In the early morning moments when I’m bare faced, the effects of this magical elixir are evident, which is precisely why it has earned a place in my beauty arsenal for years to come.
